A genus of plant with large, elliptical and boldly patterned foliage. New growth emerges lime green, in tight rolls, which unfurl and mature to a deep emerald. Adult growth is impressively patterned along its venation. Held against the light, it reveals a dense network of tiny rectangles, alternately green in colour. Plant appears to slowly dance throughout the day and night, as foliage splays or gathers upward as if in prayer. This is a phenomenon known as nyctinasty. Suitable for a tabletop or shelf with bright indirect to filtered sunlight. Prefers higher humidity and some extra care. Best suited to any medium-sized planter by Bergs Potter. Avoid exposure to direct afternoon sun, as this may scorch and permanently damage leaves.
