Description

A variety of hoya celebrated for its dramatic foliage and show-stopping blooms. Native to the Malaysian state of Sarawak. Leaves are large, leathery, and broadly ovate, often measuring 6-8" long and 3-4" wide — noticeably bigger than most common Hoya varieties. Growth is moderate to vigorous, under ideal conditions. It can be trained onto a trellis, moss pole, or hoop, or allowed to spill dramatically from a hanging planter. It tends to grow in flushes, developing a run of new leaves or stems, followed by a period of rest before blooming. Mature plants produce massive umbels of up to 50 star-shaped flowers, each waxy and luminous with a creamy white corolla and pinkish to red corona. Blooms are intensely fragrant, especially during nighttime. Hoyas remain among our favourite indoor houseplants as they are largely drought-tolerant, endures for years in the same pot, grows to epic proportions and propagate easily. Potted in an Elizabeth Planter 12 cm / 3.25" by Bergs Potter. Prefers bright indirect to filtered sunlight. Avoid exposure to direct afternoon sun, as this may scorch and permanently damage leaves. Sensitive to overwatering.
