Description
A charming, collectible hybrid that reflects the best traits of both parents: the sprawling habit of 'E. parvimedusae' and the thorny character plus colourful bracts of Crown of Thorns 'E. milii'. Very slow growing and compact. Plant's central caudex gives rise to multiple, twisting arms that radiate outward, each lined with short, sharp spines. Mature specimens develop into dense, coral-like mounds measuring 6-12" tall and 10-15" wide. Clusters of glossy green leaves appear on new growth tips and along growing stem segments. Oval, thin, soft and somewhat fleshy, these leaves are exuberant but deciduous, dropping at the onset of seasonal dormancy or drought. Small yellowish-green flowers (cyathia) may appear on younger stem tips throughout the year; however flowering is rare in cultivation. Best suited to a spot with bright indirect light and moderate direct sun (i.e., morning or late in the day). Avoid harsh midday direct sunlight, which can scorch new growth. Potted in a Julie Planter 12 cm / 4.25" by Bergs Potter. Contains a toxic, milky sap! Place beyond reach of small children and pets.
