DESCRIPTION
Part of an ongoing series of round vases drawn from ancient Korean Moon Jars.
A large, bulbous vase with a narrow neck, thin protruding lip and slight foot. Grit-infused surface catches the light, captures attention and invites touch. Luminous white glazing thins in parts to expose subtle drifts of warm, earthy tones. Planetary references are apt and reinforced by its construction from two wheel-thrown domes. One of a kind and handmade by Clam Lab. Stoneware. Matte finish throughout. Watertight.

DESIGNER
Clam Lab is the ceramics practice of artist Clair Catillaz, based in Catskill, New York, USA. Catillaz creates tactile, functional vessels of other-worldly beauty. They reflect a profound understanding of materials and ceramic history — drawing from the aesthetic of Wabi Sabi and Japanese ceramics, Scandinavian design and the American studio pottery movement, among others. Each piece features high-quality stoneware, masterful glaze customization and application, a sophisticated firing process, and a skillful integration of hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques. Her latest collection contains some of her largest and most ambitious artworks to date. All are intended for everyday enjoyment and use.
Made by hand. Due to differences in/among monitors, actual colours may vary from those appearing on screen. Lift before moving to avoid surface marks.
