DESCRIPTION
Part of an ongoing series of round vases drawn from ancient Korean Moon Jars.
A pleasantly round vase with a modest, gently flared neck and foot. Silky, lustrous titanium-mint glaze flows from the mouth, coats the shoulders and down the upper body before it ends in petrified drips near the base. Contrasting, textured and subtly glazed layers of earthy, speckled clay are exposed above the foot. A real feat in glazing and breathtaking up close! One of a kind and handmade by Clam Lab. Wheel thrown stoneware. Crystalline and matte finish. Watertight.

DESIGNER
Clam Lab is the ceramics practice of artist Clair Catillaz, based in Catskill, New York, USA. Catillaz creates tactile, functional vessels of other-worldly beauty. They reflect a profound understanding of materials and ceramic history — drawing from the aesthetic of Wabi Sabi and Japanese ceramics, Scandinavian design and the American studio pottery movement, among others. Each piece features high-quality stoneware, masterful glaze customization and application, a sophisticated firing process, and a skillful integration of hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques. Her latest collection contains some of her largest and most ambitious artworks to date. All are intended for everyday enjoyment and use.
