DESCRIPTION
A round, footed vase whose broad oval neck and mouth sit proud and perpendicular to its spherical body. Ash-infused titanium glaze leaches brown and streaks peachy-pink. It forms a dense, crystalline and watering curtain over much of the form. (The ash was collected by family from their property.) Glimpse the complex surface below and near the base — all mottled beige, green and white like the other Pocket in this collection. One of a kind and handmade by Clam Lab. Wheel-thrown stoneware with hand-built features. Sparkle and satin finish throughout. Not watertight and suitable for dried floral displays.
DIMENSIONS
7" Ø x 11" h (2.5" x 7.5" opening)
DESIGNER
Clam Lab is the ceramics practice of artist Clair Catillaz, based in Catskill, New York, USA. Catillaz creates tactile, functional vessels of other-worldly beauty. They reflect a profound understanding of materials and ceramic history — drawing from the aesthetic of Wabi Sabi and Japanese ceramics, Scandinavian design and the American studio pottery movement, among others. Each piece features high-quality stoneware, masterful glaze customization and application, a sophisticated firing process, and a skillful integration of hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques. Her latest collection contains some of her largest and most ambitious artworks to date. All are intended for everyday enjoyment and use.
Made by hand. Due to differences in/among monitors, actual colours may vary from those appearing on screen. Lift before moving to avoid surface marks.
