DESCRIPTION

Part of an ongoing series of round vases drawn from ancient Korean Moon Jars, often featuring altered openings or necks of a differing geometry, such as squares or ovals.

A large, square-mouthed vase with a generously round body and contrasting, pronounced foot. Dripping washes of milky-white atop aubergine glazing synthesize on the dark clay body to a textured, stony lavender finish. Brilliant blue neck joints are a surprise and a delight up close. One of a kind and handmade by Clam Lab. Wheel-thrown stoneware with hand-built features. Matte finish. Watertight.

DESIGNER

Clam Lab is the ceramics practice of artist Clair Catillaz, based in Catskill, New York, USA. Catillaz creates tactile, functional vessels of other-worldly beauty. They reflect a profound understanding of materials and ceramic history — drawing from the aesthetic of Wabi Sabi and Japanese ceramics, Scandinavian design and the American studio pottery movement, among others. Each piece features high-quality stoneware, masterful glaze customization and application, a sophisticated firing process, and a skillful integration of hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques. Her latest collection contains some of her largest and most ambitious artworks to date. All are intended for everyday enjoyment and use.

Made by hand. Due to differences in/among monitors, actual colours may vary from those appearing on screen. Lift before moving to avoid surface marks. An additional $20 delivery fee applies for this oversized item.
