Description
The inflorescence of a date palm (species unknown) whose form resembles something from under the sea. Curvy, flattened stalk reflect gravity's former pull, while the peduncle — an extensive network of short, wiry, pointed branches — are covered in knobby joints that once bore flowers and then fruit. These limbs are fascinating up close and resemble the tentacles of an octopus. Faded taupe colouring throughout. Woody yet pliable material consistency. Display individually (e.g., strewn on a long table/shelf, or, piled in a sculptural heap against a support) or install en masse, and with some care, in a broad, deep, weighted vase. Packs a big visual punch and strikes an unexpected balance between hard and soft textures. Wrapped in a kraft-sleeve for protection.
