DESCRIPTION
Part of an ongoing series — "Ridges" and "Twists" — concerned with vessels in a state of flux.
A flat-bottomed vase whose concave, ridged, irregular, twisting and tapering walls emerge from a medallion base. Distinctive wavy rim. Kinetic, flowing and sculptural form. Features subtle white glaze with some speckle. Channels are tinged soft-pink as a result of ash additives in the glazing. (The ash was collected by the artist's family, from their property.) Warm, earth-toned joints and tips emphasize moments of formal transition. One of a kind and handmade by Clam Lab. Wheel-thrown stoneware. Matte to stain finish throughout. Watertight.
DIMENSIONS

DESIGNER
Clam Lab is the ceramics practice of artist Clair Catillaz, based in Catskill, New York, USA. Catillaz creates tactile, functional vessels of other-worldly beauty. They reflect a profound understanding of materials and ceramic history — drawing from the aesthetic of Wabi Sabi and Japanese ceramics, Scandinavian design and the American studio pottery movement, among others. Each piece features high-quality stoneware, masterful glaze customization and application, a sophisticated firing process, and a skillful integration of hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques. Her latest collection contains some of her largest and most ambitious artworks to date. All are intended for everyday enjoyment and use.
Made by hand. Due to differences in/among monitors, actual colours may vary from those appearing on screen. Lift before moving to avoid surface marks.
