DESCRIPTION
A substantial flat-bottomed vase with an oval mouth, pronounced lip, short neck and broad heart-shaped body. Strongly figurative. Subtle clay ridges suggest its coil-method construction. Luminous peach-tinged surface transitions to buttery white joints and extremities. Glazing brings into relief a vast and delicate network of surface marks — hatches, loops, or perhaps a kind of handwriting. Some black flecking near base. One of a kind and handmade by Clam Lab. Hand-built stoneware. Eggshell finish. Watertight.

DESIGNER
Clam Lab is the ceramics practice of artist Clair Catillaz, based in Catskill, New York, USA. Catillaz creates tactile, functional vessels of other-worldly beauty. They reflect a profound understanding of materials and ceramic history — drawing from the aesthetic of Wabi Sabi and Japanese ceramics, Scandinavian design and the American studio pottery movement, among others. Each piece features high-quality stoneware, masterful glaze customization and application, a sophisticated firing process, and a skillful integration of hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques. Her latest collection contains some of her largest and most ambitious artworks to date. All are intended for everyday enjoyment and use.
Made by hand. Due to differences in/among monitors, actual colours may vary from those appearing on screen. Lift before moving to avoid surface marks.
