Description
A distinctive and tactile epiphytic cactus native to the Atlantic forests of southeastern Brazil. Produces long, cylindrical, segmented stems densely covered in soft, hair-like white bristles. Unusual-looking. Stems branch freely and cascade generously, forming a dense, flowing curtain of growth. Individual stems may reach 2–3' long under ideal indoor conditions. Produces small, fragrant, creamy-white flowers along the length of mature stems in late winter or early spring, occasionally followed by small, dark berries. Place on an elevated shelf, mantle or in a hanging planter so that stems may trail fully, unobstructed. Unlike its desert counterparts, Rhipsalis pilocarpa appreciates consistent moisture and does not require prolonged drought cycles. Prefers bright, indirect light, moderate humidity and an evenly moist but well-draining substrate. Particularly well-suited to our Hoff Planter 8 cm / 3" by Bergs Potter. Prefers bright to indirect sunlight.
