Description
A striking foliage plant grown for the drama of its leaves. Begonia Rex 'Zumba' produces large, asymmetrical leaves with a deeply textured, almost metallic surface — rich burgundy at the centre, edged in silver and green, with a spiralling pattern that differs from leaf to leaf. Individual leaves reach 6–12" across; the plant matures to a breadth of 12–18" indoors. Growth is low and spreading, forming a lush, full mound. One of the more vivid cultivars of the Rex group, which encompasses some of the most ornamental foliage plants in cultivation. Best displayed at eye level or below, where leaf surfaces can be fully appreciated. Occasional small, pale flowers may appear but are typically removed to preserve the plant's energy and form. Prefers bright, indirect light, moderate to high humidity and an evenly moist but well-draining substrate. Avoid wetting foliage.
