Origin
Native to Costa Rica. Grows as an epiphyte in wet tropical forest, climbing into the canopy on aerial roots rather than rooting in open ground.
General Care
Light
Bright, filtered light. Avoid direct sun, which can scorch stems.
Temperature

Humidity
Average to higher. For extra humidity: mist 1–2 times per week, place pot on moist pebbles in a tray, group with other plants, or introduce a humidifier.
Water
Every 1–2 weeks. Water thoroughly and allow the top 1–2" of potting mix to dry between waterings. Always check moisture level before watering. Reduce frequency through the cooler, lower-light months..
Fertilizer
Every 4–6 weeks (spring–fall). Use organic, balanced water-soluble fertilizer, according to packaging instructions. Withhold over winter.
Maintenance
Provide a moss pole, trellis or ledge to climb, or allow stems to trail unsupported. Inspect for pests when handling or cleaning.
Potting and Repotting
Well-draining cactus and succulent potting mix, amended with a handful of orchid bark for extra aeration. Every 2–3 years (spring), move plant into a planter 1–2" larger (diameter and depth). Avoid watering for 1 week after repotting.
Special Points/Common Problems:

- Shrivelled or scorched stems may suggest sun exposure that's too direct and intense.
- Soft, blackened stem sections may suggest rot from overwatering or poor drainage. Cut away affected areas, back to healthy tissue.
- Sticky residue or fine webbing may suggest mealybugs or spider mites. Treat with insecticidal soap or neem oil.
- May produce pale, moon-white blooms that open only at night, on mature plants. Flowering is not typical in young specimens and is not guaranteed indoors.
