A wonderfully round and footed vase with a narrow opening. Stunning wood ash glazing that is the result of multiple firings. Very painterly surface. A study in creams and taupes. Chalky, pock-marked and egg-shell in parts while toasted cream in others; distinguished by sepia drips and daubs that are laden with sediment. Significant gloss and some crackle to a mostly matte finish. Wheel-thrown slightly speckled stoneware. Watertight. One of a kind and handmade by Clam Lab.

Clam Lab is the ceramics practice of artist Clair Catillaz, based in Catskill, New York, USA. Catillaz creates vessels of other-worldly beauty on the wheel and using traditional hand-building techniques. Her pieces are often fired multiple times in the kiln, which accounts for their remarkable, nuanced glazing. Her work expertly balances form and function.
